VFM scoops Customer Service accolade
NOTHING beats knowing that you are the best on land.
Contact Centre Association of Zimbabwe in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe as well as Zimbabwe Tourism Authority recently organised awards to reward best performing councils.
Victoria Falls Municipality was voted the best customer service provider as a ceremony held in Harare on October 28.
The awards were cross cutting covering the hospitality sector, ICT and telecoms, banking and financial services, Government departments, local authorities, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, transport sector and retail and fast foods categories.
The Municipality illuminated the occasion by demonstrating its mandate of providing efficient, accessible and affordable services.
Victoria Falls Mayor, His Worship Councillor Sifiso Mpofu dedicated the award to the local authority’s workers.
“This (Customer service) award reflects on the efforts made by the Victoria Falls Municipality workers who have dedicated hard work to attaining excellence.” He said.
Core in the local authority’s mandate is provision of services like the rehabilitation of roads and safe water.
Victoria Falls is the hub and mother of tourism in the country hence is under pressure to ensure that services match international standards.
The local authority, despite financial challenge characteristic of every entity in Zimbabwe, carries daily refuse collections and is in a process of coming up with a land fill to maintain its clean environs.
The municipality has also launched a multi-million dollar Water and Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme which seeks to ensure provision of clean and safe water and sewer management is up to standard.
The awards are a yardstick to service delivery.
The Chartered Institute of Customer Management (CICM), a global customer service and call centre professional and academic board, oversees the awards.
